The Government of Japan has again funded a valuable school renovation project for Vaimea Primary School. The handover ceremony took place on August 2nd, 2017. Honourable Prime Minister, Afioga Tuilaepa Fatialofa Lupesoliai Sailele Malielegaoi presented the keynote address. Cabinet Ministers, members of parliament, invited guests, parents, teachers and students of Vaimea Primary School attended the ceremony.

The project was mainly funded through Japan’s Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) programme at a total of USD $100,768 (SAT$251,749.10) for two new classrooms and a hall.

His Excellency Maugaoleatuolo Shinya Aoki, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Samoa officially handed over the new classrooms and hall to Vaimea Primary School. The Government of Japan recognized the importance of quality education for the younger generation as they are the workforce and leaders of the future. Japan had continuously assisted our country through education and other areas of development.

Vaimea Primary School has a roll of 752 students with 19 teachers.
