Summary of tasks:

- Provide clear and effective leadership to the sport and recreation sector, through policy development and measurement
  of the effectiveness of programs and interventions at all levels
- Promote Health and Physical Education in Schools
- Encourage widespread participation in Sports and physical activity
- Assist, Support and Develop Sports programs for people with Special Needs
- Organize Sports Management and Administration Seminars Encourage and promote sports competition on a provincial and
  national level for Schools and Sports Clubs
- Coordinate Sports Injury Compensation Scheme
- Establish, upgrade and maintain sports facilities in partnership with key stakeholders
- Assist in the provision of technical and financial assistance to all levels of organized sporting organizations
- Liaise with SASNOC on National and International Sports Events
- Assist Culture Division in the development and promotion of traditional sports
